Dear Members and Friends,

I hope you all enjoyed the “The Boy Friend”.  We have had some very good feedback about the show and so many people commented on how nice it was to have so many young people in it.

Fortunately they are sticking with us for our next show, “The Pirates of Penzance” and have auditioned for parts.  The cast list is as follows:-

Pirate King                     Ken Cooper
Frederick                       Mike Hancy
Samuel                               Miguel Martinez de Aquirre
Major General StanleyJohn Lambert
Sergeant of Police        Maurice Cole
Mabel                         Sarah Garrett (a new member)
Ruth                                 Rebecca Beard
Edith                                 Carolyn Kirkpatrick
Kate                                 Emma Ware
Isobel                         Kerry Elliot

I understand it was an excellent audition with six auditioning for Ruth alone!

We have had some new members recently from Chelmsford Opera and other sources and we welcome them and hope they will enjoy being with us in our shows.  As usual we need more men, so if you are interested or know of someone who is, tell them to come along on a Tuesday evening to the Club at 7.45pm.  We shall be delighted to see them.

Show week is 22nd – 26th April 2008.  Start telling your friends about it now.

Tony Brett is to be our Producer and Betty Moore our M.D. – a great combination!

On 7th December in Ingatestone there will be an Victorian Evening, when people dress up, shops will be open and Father Christmas is due to arrive by coach.  Snow is guaranteed, I understand.  Our Group will be singing carols, starting off at the Crown at 6.00pm and then moving on following the horse-drawn carriage to under the Co-op canopy at the other end of the village – opposite Budgeons.

On 9th December there will be a Christmas Celebration Evening at Hutton hall.  This is always a lovely evening with a glorious open fire and mulled wine (or soft drink) on arrival.  Pat will play the piano in the Music Room and the buffet supper will be set-out in the dining hall. There will be a concert of Christmas music by our Group then there will be a raffle, followed by carols for all and mince pies to finish with. The cost is £10 (£6 for children).  It starts at 5.00pm.  Let Dizzy know how many tickets you need – bring your friends - they will love the venue.

We shall break-up for Xmas on 18th December and then resume on Tuesday 8th January.

In the New Year we are planning a Quiz Night.  Richard Pennicard has agreed to set the questions (Not too hard, Richard, please!) on February 23rd at the Fryerning Parish Rooms.  More details later.  Keep the date free.

I sent Tom Heslop a card and cheque from us all, when he went up to Cambridge (The 2nd of our pianists to do so!).  Unfortunately they did not arrive.  I managed to contact him and now have sent him a replacement cheque.  He is a dedicated and talented pianist.  We wish him well and hope he will keep in touch.

Young Expressions are putting on their pantomime, Aladdin from 30th Nov. to 2nd Dec.  They supply us with some very talented young people, who know about the stage, have self discipline, and confidence.  Tickets are on sale at Avrohurst on the High Street.

The results of the sky dive are about to be announced with only a few pledges to be collected in.  Liz hopes it is going to be in the region of £1700 – a wonderful result I am sure you will agree. The Curtain Fund is growing and we are getting quotes for fabrics.

I am becoming very involved in the Community Club and am at present Acting Chairman.  There are lots of problems to be sorted out, but David Aquino is advising me very wisely as he has dealt with this kind of problem before and we are hopeful that we can start to smarten-up the Club and sort out the problems.

I am sure you will enjoy reading the crit. by our NODA rep. of our last show. (Click here to read)

Best wishes to you all and Season’s Greetings,

Lilian
