Dear Members and Friends, I hope you have all enjoyed our Summer break and are ready to get back into the swing of rehearsals for The Boyfriend and are already trying to sell as many tickets as possible for what promises to be an excellent show. (It has been in Hyde Park and has had rave reviews). This is a lighthearted show suitable for all age groups, with popular songs such as "I could be happy with you", "Won't you Charleston with me?" and "It's never too late to fall in love". Set in Nice in the 1920's it is full of fun and frolics and there are a lot of lively dance routines.
Tickets are available from Dizzy (01245 360532) and will eventually be on sale at Avrohurst's Ltd, 53 High Street, Ingatestone. Book early and get the best seats. Please sell as many as you can we excelled ourselves for Fiddler, so see if you can do it again. Show Week is 30th Oct to 3rd Nov. Please read the account on the website of the Sky Dive undertaken by three of our brave members Liz Gibson, Sean Lilley and Michael Stokes. If you sponsored them thank you very much and if you missed out and would like to support them, please send a cheque to Liz, 131 Heybridge Road, Ingatestone. The money is being raised to help our funds, so that we can help with replacing the curtains in the Community Club. Sincere thanks to our three enterprising members looking for different ways of raising funds. One of our favourite ways to raise funds is our Christmas Event at Hutton Hall, this year to be held on Sunday 9th December at 5.30pm. Tickets cost 110 (for children under 14) which includes hot Punch or soft drink on arrival . buffet supper, a concert and carols for all. Betty is arranging some songs and if you would like to sing let Margaret know. Make a note in your diary, ask your friends if they would like to come and let Dizzy or Norma know well in advance, as this is always popular and numbers are limited. On Dec 7th there is to be a Victorian Evening in Ingatestone. If you would like to dress up and sing please let Margaret know. After our Autumn Show rehearsals start for the Pirates of Penzance. This is by popular request and we look forward to welcoming Tony Brett as our Producer and Betty Moore as Musical Director. I am sure lots of you know this show and we hope that some members who have not taken part in this show will join us for Pirates (22 to 26 April 2008). After that we have Sweet Charity in the pipeline (21 to 25th October 2008) a full and varied programme I am sure you will agree. We have some ideas for social events in the future. If you have any suggestions or would be prepared to organise something, please let me know, also if you have ideas for shows in the future. It is your Society have your say and help to make it a success by getting involved and supporting as many events as you can and selling lots of tickets. Best wishes to all, Lilian Hunter
