Dear Members and Friends, It is with the greatest sadness that we must report the death of our beloved friend Norma Quarterman. Norma died on 10th November 2008. Her contribution to IMOG, both onstage and off-stage, over the last 37 years was truly astounding. She had an amazing ability to motivate everyone around her. Her energy and organisational skills were a precious asset that we will miss dearly. She was wildly vivacious, and her laugh filled us with a rosy glow. There are so few genuine and true people in this world, and none more so than Norma. All who knew Norma were charmed by her personal warmth, sincerity, and class: a true gentle-woman in every sense of the word. We at IMOG are privileged and proud to have had her to be our friend.

Coming! 21 - 25 October 2008 Our next production, after Pirates of Penzance, will be the wonderful Music Man with numbers like “76 Trombones”, “Trouble”, “Lida Rose”, “Till there was You”, “Goodnight, my Someone” and “Wells Fargo Wagon”. So you see it has super music to enjoy. There are a multitude of parts, singing and non-singing, for both sexes and all ages. In fact, 10 for females and 11 for males!!!…a barber shop quartet of men and a quintet of bossy, gossipy local ladies included! In order to raise funds for IMOG a bunch of intrepid members decided to organise a sponsored sky-dive. Sean, Natasha, Mike and Liz (see photo) decide to step out of a plane at 12,000 feet, and bravely fall to earth, praying that their parachutes would not fail them. Read an account of what happened on this trip by Liz Gibson. To view the video of the sky dive click here or on the photo. To all our good 'Friends of the Society' Thank you once again for all your support - the £10 subs, generous gifts and donations and support of our shows and fund raising events. Those of you who saw Fiddler on the Roof will agree that it was one of the best performances we have given. The male singers were so good, people were asking me as they left whether we had brought in professional singers, but no, they were all our own members, and along with a wonderfully enthusiastic cast, and the tremendous input of our producer and director - Betty Moore - the show was a great success. |
